After a thorough cleaning of the house and bathrooms, I turned my attention to our Camping Journal quilt. I made a few more park signs and then I created a few kits for the blocks I decided to include to represent each night of our stays. Below ...
With summer in full swing, I have been thinking about the various sounds of the season... The Fourth of July is nearly upon us and the celebration with family and friends, for many, encompasses an extra-long weekend since the 4th falls on Tuesday.
The sound of crickets chirping outside the windows, the laughter and squeals of joy (and sometimes the cries and wailing of little ones) as children play in a pool or in the water... the sounds of fireworks in the neighborhood... dogs barking in response. And the drone of fans and air conditioners working to keep the air ...
I got the fence rail blocks joined to complete the top... It is huge! Too big, I think. I will need to take it to my Mom's house to see how it fits on her bed. I need the backing, which is in the mail, before I can move forward. According to tracking info, it should arrive on Tuesday.
Yesterday was Thursday and I was lacking some motivation. It's been a month since we started our vacation trip to the Gulf Coast and I was missing the camper. I had a stack of items that needed to be put away so I wandered out there and spent time putting things back in place and making the bed since I had just tossed all of the bedding onto the bed.
Last summer I participated in the (on-line) Fiona Sandwich Summer Camp, hosted by Rachael. It was great fun to choose an activity, select a postcard block for our quilt and happily mark off an activity on the "activity sheet".
I am ready to go with the summer camp again... This year the aim of the camp is to "cultivate your inner artist ...
We sat, we talked, we walked some, we watched the light on the canyon walls shift... we read, we watched the dog wander and pace trying to find the perfect spot to settle down and enjoy gnawing on an antelope leg she found in the area... we napped, we slept almost 12 hours both nights and we woke ...
Friday's presentation at the Trinidad Historical Society's annual dinner was a success. Sixty people were in attendance, the slide presentation worked smoothly and I was able to keep my cool through out it and even answered some questions after it.

The Nolan Family Camp Weekend was filled with so much joy, love, laughter, crafts, activities and food... and only one small melt-down from one of the little ones.

Sweet Hanna was a little fussy on day 2, but there were enough adults around that we took turns soothing, walking and talking to her. She really was happiest when she was ...
Last week we (finally) found our way with friends to the Conejos Camp Ground located in the Rio Grande National Forest. It took us a little over 3 hours to drive to our destination. It is remote and there is absolutely no connection to the ...
Just this morning as I was typing up some additional excerpts for future stories of the sew along I came across this...
Has it really been only a week since I last posted??? It flew by! Yet there was so much that went on...
My To-Do List consisted of...
❧ Piecing the top for the third memory quilt in a month.
❧ Write the last Kansas City Star quilt block pattern.
Did I meet those two goals? I can answer with a resounding "Yes!"
Though there were plenty of distractions along the way, I completed both tasks just yesterday... well, last night. For me to continue working of "quilty" projects into the evening is unusual, but the daunting task of that last block pattern ... read more
It has been several weeks since I linked with Home Sewn By Us for their Tuesday To-Do planning party... Life was really busy, and suddenly all of the deadlines have passed and I have time to relax and take time to smell the roses.
Well, sort of... While I don't have any quilt projects waiting in line and screaming for attention, I DO have a need to begin writing out the patterns for the final six blocks of the Pieces From The Past Sew Along, along with gathering more family photos, stories and research dates and events... oh and ...
read moreLast week was rough! It seemed as though I faced a new challenge each day, though none of the obstacles were quilting related. You know, just life stuff. Issues with a major credit card company, technology issues that affected the latest release of the Pieces From The Past Pattern - Russian Sunflower, an update that were required on the church computer before being able to create the Sunday worship slides, and notifications that recent medical bills are not "covered" by our "non-insurance" provider.
